Severe weather risk moves in Sunday afternoon

Cover Image

After a fairly nice, dry but humid Saturday afternoon, things are about to take a turn for the worse.

There's still a slight rain chance today, and evening temperatures should stay in the 70s.

WWL-TV meteorologist Jay Galle says more fog is likely to move in again tonight, and will be an issue overnight and into the morning.

"By Sunday, a potent upper low will begin moving across the lower Mississippi Valley spawning a surface low pressure system which will bring a slight risk for severe weather with heavy rain, flash flooding, gusty winds, hail and even an isolated tornado being possible. The main time frame for the worst weather will be Sunday evening and overnight," says Galle.

Sunday's rains may be heavier and storms more severe than those we witnessed Thursday.

Sunday highs will stay in the low 80s.

"A marginal risk for severe weather will still exist Monday, with scattered showers and storms and highs in the upper 70s. Tuesday through Friday will be rain free with partly to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will stay a little above average, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s."
