Some rain returns this weekend

The crisp air that has been with us the last few days goes away for the weekend.

"Southerly winds return to the region today, and that will make it partly cloudy, milder and more humid," according to WWL-TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum.  "High temperatures will be in the mid 70s."

He says tonight will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance for a shower and lows in the 60s.

The weekend forecast sees a cold front moving toward us on Saturday. 

"We will have plenty of clouds with higher humidity levels and a slight chance for a shower. High temperatures will climb to around 80°," Nunnbaum explained.  "The cold front will move through Saturday night into Sunday morning. This will bring us scattered showers and a few thunderstorms. Then it will stay cloudy with some lingering showers and it turns MUCH COOLER on Sunday."

He says Sunday's high temperatures will occur overnight around the mid 60s, but they will fall to near 60° during the afternoon. 

• Next Week Outlook: The forecast models are not in agreement with an area of low pressure that will move across the area. GFS has us dry, but the Euro has plenty of rain over us late in the day.  Right now, I'm going with a cloudy and cool day with spotty showers. However, this could change once the front moves through. Stay tuned.  Highs will only be in the mid 60s. The rain clears out on Tuesday and we stay dry through Wednesday with highs getting back into the 70s. Looks like we could see a few showers back in the forecast for Thursday and then even more rain Friday.

TONIGHT:Mostly cloudy and not as chilly with a 20% chance for a few showers. Patchy fog. Lows around 63. Wind SE 3-5 mph.

SATURDAY:Mostly cloudy, warm and humid with a 30% chance for spotty showers. Highs around 80. Wind S 8-15 mph.

SUNDAY:Cloudy, breezy and much cooler with a 40% chance for scattered showers and a few storms. Lows around 57. Early highs around 66 falling to 60. 

MONDAY:Cloudy, breezy and cool with a 30% chance for spotty showers. Lows north around 45 and south around 50. Highs around 65. 

TUESDAY:Becoming sunny and mild. Lows north around 42 and south around 49. Highs around 69.
