Severe thunderstorm warning for St. John/St. Charles Parish

A severe thunderstorm warning is now up for St. John and St. Charles parishes upon the expiration of a tornado warning for the same region.  

Update: 8:48pm

A tornado watch is up for St. John the Baptist Parish and cities of Belle Terre, La Place, Edgard, Reserve, and Norco.  

Residents are advised to take shelter in the deep interior of their homes as winds topping 60-mph are expected.  Until 9pm.

Update: 8:36pm

A severe thunderstorm warning has been posted for Jefferson Parish, St. John, Ascension, St. James, St. Charles, SE Livingston, South Central Tangipahoa Parishes. 

Until 9:15pm.

A thunderstorm warning is up for Washington and Tangipahoa Parishes and Pearl River County, MS.  

A storm watch has been posted for the immediate area and NOLA Ready is reporting parking restrictions for the neutral ground and sidewalks have been lifted.  

A strong storm cell with heavy rain is already dumping water in Metairie and Kenner.  

A street flooding advisory is also up for Orleans Parish.
