With restaurants, theaters, and events all closed, canceled or postponed, the good news is, the water and the woods are all open. You can get out to fish, and still practice social distancing, and maybe have some nice fresh fish for dinner.
WWL’s Don Dubuc tells us where you might be able to catch some fresh fish for dinner “One of my favorite places in the St. Tammany is the fishing pier in Slidell. It is open every day from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., it has bathrooms, parking, and high rails so its Ok for the kids.”
If you don’t fish, the woods are a good place to breathe some fresh air, and maybe start a new hobby; photography! “You can go hiking, birdwatching has become very popular, and we have some very close wildlife refuges that are open for access. Bring your binoculars and your camera, and take some wonderful pictures of the beautiful Louisiana scenery,” said Don Dubuc.
If you are going to try to catch dinner, you will need a fishing license. You can get one online or at sporting goods stores or bait shops. For information about obtaining the proper license, go to WLF.LOUISIANA.GOV and go to the licensing and permitting tab.
