Winds will increase through the late morning into the afternoon today ahead of potential severe weather.
"Some scattered storms will return between roughly 2pm and 10pm," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone said. "Not everyone will get storms today, but a few of the storms that form may turn severe with high wind gusts, hail and perhaps an isolated tornado."
He says the highest chance for storms and severe weather will be in Mississippi with areas north of the lake more likely to see the nasty storms than on the Southshore.
⚠️Severe weather outbreak likely just north of SE Louisiana Sunday afternoon-evening. Still still looks like most of this will stay north of the lake, but storms are possible for everyone. With rain totals through Sunday up to 1-2 inches, we could see some brief ponding of water.
"Most areas should be able to handle a couple of inches of rain since it has been so dry lately," Malone explained. "Any rain tapers off Sunday night as a cold front arrives."
