Turbine 5, which exploded in December at the Sewerage and Water Board’s Carrollton water plant, will likely never be repaired.
The Times Picayune | The New Orleans Advocate reports Executive Director Ghassan Korban told S&WB board of directors on Wednesday, that it is unlikely the half-century old power turbine will ever be put back in service.
The comment marks a hard shift for the utility to move away from its archaic power technology, and rely more on Entergy’s power service. Meanwhile, Entergy and S&WB are working together to construct a power substation at the main water plant.
