Cox Communications customers in southeastern Louisiana and nationwide are reporting outages, primarily with their phone service.
The web site downdetector.com had more than 3,000 reports by mid-morning. By early afternoon, it had decreased to fewer than 1,300.
Most of the reports (74 percent) were about phone service, with 20 percent reporting a loss of Internet service, and four percent reporting their TV service was out.
The outages range from New Orleans to Los Angeles to Boston.
