This weekend was an extremely violent one in New Orleans with 14 people shot, 3 of those killed. Shootings over the weekend occurred in 5 different neighborhoods.
Police investigated crime scenes in Mid-City, Central City, Desire, New Orleans East and the Bywater.
It all began 5 p.m. Friday evening, when a 41-year-old man was shot as he was walking on Terpsichore Street near South Liberty Street, according to a report from NOPD.
Then later that evening, about 8:30 p.m., another man was shot, this time fatally. Police responded to the 4700 block of Lynhuber Drive in New Orleans East, where they found an unidentified man unresponsive in a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Just 2 hours later, 6 male victims, ranging from ages 16-21 were shot in a car as they were driving on City Park Avenue near Canal Boulevard in Mid-City around 10:30 p.m. A 17-year-old died as a result of that shooting.
Saturday morning, just after 9 a.m. 4 more people were shot in the St. Claude neighborhood near the intersection of Poland and St. Claude avenues.
Then, Saturday night around 9 p.m. two more victims in an apparent double shooting that happened in the Desire area. Cops say 2 victims were taken to the hospital where one later died.
