Tornado warning for parts of the Northshore

Heavy rains and severe storms and blowing into Southeast Louisiana.  

Radar detected a tornado near I-12 in Livingston.

"This would be a confirmed tornado, at least by doppler radar," WWL TV Meteorologist Dave Nussbaum said.

He could see debris on radar, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

Nussbaum said the Ponchatoula and Hammond areas were in the path of the storm.

The National Weather Service said in an advisory, "At 1025 AM CDT, a confirmed tornado was located 9 miles south of Springfield, or 14 miles north of Reserve, moving northeast at 40mph."

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Livingston, Tangipahoa and St. John the Baptist until 11:00am.

The National Weather Service has also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Terrebonne and Lafourche Parish until 11:00am.

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for Lafourche, LA, St. John the Baptist, LA, and St. James, LA beginning at 10:37 am and ending at 11:07 am

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Ascension, LA, Tangipahoa, LA, and Livingston, LA beginning at 10:40 am and ending at 11:40 am 

A tornado watch and flash flood watch are in effect for all of Southeast Louisiana as the severe weather moves closer to metro New Orleans.  

They city has approved letting people park on sidewalks and neutral ground until tomorrow.
