Roaring storms generating tornadoes or tornado strength winds have cut across Northern Louisiana and pushed into Mississippi and Alabama.
WWL-TV reports the west and north shores of Lake Pontchartrain are also under a tornado watch until 8pm tonight.
In North Central Louisiana a tornado touched down in Arcadia bringing down trees onto I-20, shutting down the road.
In Monroe, a tornado hit a housing development and damaged over 20 homes.
The airport was also hit by the same twister and suffered significant damage.
Numerous hangars, basically large metal sheds, were torn apart, exposing parked aircraft inside to the winds.
A number of planes were damaged or destroyed along with other buildings at the airport.
