While the hurricane center is projecting a track that takes the system towards south Florida, WWL-TV meteorologist Payton Malone points out a lot of the track will depend on how much this system can develop. He says a stronger storm is more likely to follow the path toward Florida, but a weaker system will continue further west:

#PTC9 has a lot of unknowns ahead of it. The biggest thing for track will likely be intensity as it moves through the Greater Antilles. A weaker system will want to go further west before turning. A stronger system could turn sooner as it feels a weakness in ridge. #BeOn4 pic.twitter.com/blOm7sN5Fb
