The union for New Orleans police officers wants all cops tested after reporting a ranking officer has coronavirus after interaction with protesters.
"A high-ranking police official, who was present at, and interacted with the numerous protests and protesters, has just been informed he has tested positive," PANO Legal Counsel Eric Hessler said in ta letter to the police chief.
Hessler went on to request the department immediately schedule and require testing of "ALL NOPD officers."
The letter calls for additional training in the use of personal protective equipment.
PANO specifically wants that for cops called on to work protests and other large crowds.
"For the city to do anything less for these officers would not only be irresponsible, but also potentially life threatening to the them."
PANO then posted the information on Facebook.
"PANO Attorney Eric Hessler hand delivered the following letter to the Superintendent," the Police Association of New Orleans posted.
The post also called on cops to go and get tested.
