Cops had to launch a boat to catch an allegedly drunk suspect they say led them on a chase. It ended with the driver standing on his submerged car for about an hour.
WWL TV reports Louisiana State Police tried to pull over 35-year-old Darrell Goirl on the I-10 in St. Charles Parish, but he allegedly wouldn't stop.
The pursuit led into Kenner, where the driver allegedly hit two vehicles and crashed in a canal.
This video shows the suspect standing on his car during the standoff, and police getting a boat to get him.
Goirl now faces charges for:
- DWI
- Reckless operation of a vehicle
- Aggravated flight from an officer
- Resisting arrest
