The NOPD is investigating a homicide that may have been road rage just before noon.
"At around 11:48 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of Fourth Street and South Claiborne Avenue," according to a news release.
Officers arrived to find a 28-year-old male victim who had been shot.
"He was transported to the hospital by EMS where he succumbed to his injuries."
Detectives say the murder occurred after a crash.
"The initial investigation has determined that a traffic accident occurred between two vehicles. A male subject in one of the vehicles exited his car, shot the victim and fled the scene."
