Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting at a River Ridge apartment complex Monday afternoon.
Officers were dispatched to a disturbance call at the Walnut Creek Apartments in the 5800 block of Walnut Creek Road about 12:30 p.m. according to Sheriff Joe Lopinto.
When officers arrived to the second floor apartment they found a woman dead and a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the hip and arm.
Lopinto says the man was taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans for surgery for his wounds.
Lopinto did say the two victims were in a “domestic relationship”.
This is the second homicide in the parish in the past 24 hours. On Sunday night, a 40-year-old man was shot and killed in a double shooting in Westwego.
