Minutes ago, New Orleans Police issued the following email regarding the discover of a woman's dead body on North Rampart Street between St. Maurice and Tricou in the Holy Cross neighborhood of the Lower Ninth Ward:
"After further investigation, the signal for this incident has been changed to an unclassified death. The deceased victim was not found to have sustained any external signs of trauma. Additionally, Investigators were not able to confirm any shots were fired at the location.
Official cause of death will be determined via autopsy by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office."
Initially, New Orleans Police reported homicide investigators are working a murder in the Lower Ninth Ward.
The report came in just before 9am with confirmation coming just fifteen minutes later.
The state of the body, matter and cause of death have not been released.
Homicide investigators were said to be are working the scene.
No other details have been released.
