Louisiana Tech cornerback Amik Robertson is one of the Bulldogs' most decorated players. He's earned numerous conference honors and is a two-time All-American.
But Robertson is not satisfied with just being a star in Ruston, he's aiming to be one in the NFL.
"I want to be remembered," he said. "I want to be the guy that'll be able to win a couple of Super Bowls or be the guy to put on that gold jacket."
With that attitude, it's no wonder Robertson could be one of the draft's biggest steals.
"Everyone is not blessed to go first round, second round." he said. "Wherever they pick me at, it's an opportunity. I look at it as an opportunity."
Robertson has been one of college football's more productive defensive backs; he tallied 14 interceptions and 48 pass breakups as a Bulldog. He's also demonstrated the ability to play both cornerback and safety. The only knock against Amik Robertson is he lacks the prototypical size teams are looking for. But he's made it clear to NFL franchises he hasn't let that become a hindrance.
"You put me out there, I'll succeed at any position you put me at," he said. "You know, I'm an all around DB. The only thing knocking me is my size. But that's something I can't change. So, I play bigger.
"If it's special teams, you put me on special teams..let me earn my spot...it's whatever. I've been earning stuff my whole life. So that's something I'm kind of used to."
Robertson said he's heard from all 32 teams leading up to the draft and would be excited to play for any of them. He had surgery following the 2019 season and said that's been one of the main questions NFL personnel have had for him.
"They just wanted to know if I was healthy," he said. "If they would have a game tomorrow or minicamp tomorrow, would I be able to perform? And I'm telling them I'm not 100 percent. I'm 125 percent. I feel like a bike with some new tires."
Robertson was looking forward to showing scouts this in person, but due to the NFL cancelling pro days due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he had to send teams videos of his workout.
"My agent came up with a game plan to just record everything to show them that I probably got the best hips in the country," he said. "Just stuff like that to give them a better look at you...to know who I am as a football player."
