New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is set to meet with a hand specialist in Los Angeles to get an opinion on the right thumb he injured in Sunday’s 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Brees told reporters after the game that he’d gotten x-rays at the stadium but said “it’s all up in the air right now.”
“I am concerned (with the injury),” he said. “I’m hoping it’s not too significant.”
Brees injured his right hand after knocking it against Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald's hand on a pass attempt. Shortly after, Brees was examined by the team's medical staff and could be seen on the sideline with the hand wrapped. The broadcast team announced the Saints' veteran QB was questionable to return. Teddy Bridgewater checked in for Brees on the next offensive drive and finished the game for the Saints.
