LSU athletic director Scott Woodward snuck in a subtle dig at a former Tigers coach this week.

Woodward spoke at the Baton Rouge Rotary Club this week and devoted a part of his speech to who he referred to as three giants of the major college sports.

Woodward highlighted Duke basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, Alabama football coach Nick Saban and former LSU athletic director and baseball coach Skip Bertman.

Calling attention LSU’s prominence, Woodward pointed out the both Bertman and Saban were on LSU’s campus at the same time in the early 2000’s.

“That’s because of LSU,” he said. “That’s what attracts them here.”

Woodward’s next comment however skewed more in favor of one of those former LSU employees than the other.

“I know that there’s a guy in Alabama that has regrets that he’s not here today and shame on him,” he said before pointing to Bertman in the crowd. “But, we have one with a higher IQ that’s here today.”
