LSU had to add a few more starters' names to its injury report following its 66-38 against Vanderbilt Saturday. Linebacker Michael Divinity Jr. and receivers Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall Jr. all left the blowout win early.
Marshall reportedly has a fractured foot and will “miss a few weeks” according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Ross Dellenger.
One of #LSU's top receivers will be out a few weeks with a foot fracture.Something tells me it will not slow down the Tigers very much. https://t.co/QaXxtzmjw4
— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) September 21, 2019Jefferson tweeted after the game that he suffered an ankle sprain and would be fine.
i’m good just a lil ankle sprain
— JJETS✈️ (@jjetsjeff9) September 21, 2019Divinity Jr. had to be helped off the field during Saturday’s matchup and LSU head coach Ed Orgeron told reporters that the senior linebacker’s injury looked “pretty significant.”
Orgeron says “it doesn’t look good” for now on Terrace Marshall. “Pretty significant” for Divinity. Jefferson “will be okay.”
— Cody Worsham (@CodyWorsham) September 21, 2019LSU is off this weekend before returning to Tiger Stadium for an Oct. 5 matchup against Utah State.
Orgeron told the LSU Sports radio network’s Gordy Rush that the Tigers will use the time off to get healthy among other things. The Tigers were already without starters Glen Logan and Rashard Lawrence along with K'Lavon Chaisson who was held out for the second straight game.
“We’ll have some good practice in the middle of the week,” he said. “We won’t wear ‘em out. We’ll work on some tackling. We’ll get some guys healthy, then next Sunday night we’ll be back.”
Orgeron said LSU will practice Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and said tackling is just one of the things he wants to address during the bye week.
“Now when we watch the film tomorrow there’s going to be a lot of things that we have to fix especially on defense and especially in our pass protection,” Orgeron said. “But the biggest thing I’m disappointed in is the turnover ratio. We were at zero again. We got to win the turnover battle. But, you know what, that tackling, the gap fits… we gotta fix that next week.”
