A report that the SWAC, the conference Louisiana's Southern and Grambling belong to, planned to announce on Monday that it would cancel the 2020 season circculated Friday afternoon. However the SWAC comissioner, Charles McClelland, told Monroe television station KTVE, that no decision on fall sports has been made.
Southwestern Athletic Conference will announce Monday it is canceling fall sports, sources told @Stadium. SWAC is latest FCS league that won’t play football in the fall

July 17, 2020 “That report is 100 percent inaccurate and premature,” McClelland told the station “We do have a meeting scheduled for Monday. It’s a meeting that’s been on the books now for a week and a half in our ongoing discussions about what we’re supposed to do or what we will do with our sporting events. We will get together Monday with the council of presidents and we will have a decision as to whether we’re going to delay, keep course or move sports to the spring.”
Thankful to @theswac Commissioner Charles McClelland for joining me on such short notice. He stated a report on the league cancelling Fall sports is "100 percent inaccurate and premauture." More from McClelland at 6:00 and 10:00 on KTVE. #SWAC pic.twitter.com/raEywCxCAE

July 17, 2020 If the season is indeed canceled it would mean the cancelation on the annual Bayou Classic, a matchup between Southern and Grambling that's held in the Superdome.
