New Orleans Pelicans rookie forward Zion Williamson left the NBA's "bubble" last week to attend to "an urgent family matter."
The team announced Wednesday that has still been receiving daily tests for COVID-19 while away from the team and has tested negative for the coronavirus.
Williamson "fully" intends to rejoin the team, according to a release, although there's no current timetable for his return to campus in Orlando. When the former Duke star returns to the franchise he will have to quarantine, per the league's protocol, The length of that quarantine will be determined whern he returns.
The Pelicans are set to open the restart of the season July 30 with a matchup against the Utah Jazz at 5:30 p.m. and have a scrimmage scheduled against the Brooklyn Nets today.
