Twas the night before Christmas
And all through the White House –
Not a creature was stirring – not even a mouse –
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care
In hopes the impeachment trial was going to be fair –
The President’s men were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of re-election danced in their heads -
And Melania in her nighty and Trump on his phone
She was sleeping while he was up tweeting alone –
When out on the South Lawn there arose such a clatter
The President sprang up to see what was the matter –
Away to the window he flew in a flash
Tore open the shutters to see reporters ready to bash –
The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow
Shed light that the fake news reporters were ready to go –
When what to Trump’s wondering eyes did appear
But a pool of reporters that Trump knew he should fear –
With biased reporters so lively and quick
Trump knew the questions might make him feel sick –
So up to the press room the coursers they flew
With notes full of questions and Wolf Blitzer, too –
And then, in a twinkling, they challenged President Trump
And their questions made him say, “Kiss my rump!” –
As he drew in his head, and was turning around
Down the hall Trump went without making a sound –
He was dressed in a dark suit with a long red tie
And his clothes were tailored to fit a big guy –
His eyes – how they twinkled! His dimples how merry
His cheeks were kind of orange, his nose like a cherry –
His droll mouth showed he felt mellow
And the hair on his head was coiffed and quite yellow –
He had a wide broad face and a big round belly
He never laughed but it still shook like jelly –
He was a chubby and plump right jolly old elf
You might smirk if you saw him in spite of yourself –
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon let us know we had plenty to dread –
Trump spoke not a word, but went right to work
Signing bills though some might think he’s a jerk –
And finishing the bills and gesturing to the press
Trump sprang to his feet and left on his desk a hell of a mess –
But I heard him exclaim as he strolled out of sight
“I might win re-election with support from the right!”
Merry Christmas
