Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata was issued a misdemeanor summons for marijuana possession back in February, and we are just getting word that he will miss the season opener against Houston according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Onyemata's apartment was searched after a narcotics agent received a tip that marijuana products were being delivered there. The 26 year old was found in possession of a number of items but the amount was below the threshold for a more serious offense.

The 2016 4th round draft pick registered 4.5 sacks with a forced fumble this past season and is still considered a rising star on the Saints defense. It’s unknown at this point if Onyemata will appeal the reported one game ban.
