It’s hard for me to imagine ANYONE that wasn’t disappointed in the Governor’s decision to extend the stay at home deadline until May 15th. If you trust his judgement, as do I, then it’s discouraging that we haven’t made as much progress as we’d hoped in order to pass the first three “Opening Up American Again” gates to get to Phase One. If you don’t trust him, then I guess you’re not only disappointed; you’re angry as well.
I have friends that own small businesses. One of the things I respect and admire most about them is the strength to “grab ‘em and go”. That’s my way of saying they risked what they owned and increased what they owed to follow their dream. Those dreams can often turn into nightmares of customer traffic, cash flow and the constant demands to meet payroll. Every business owner I know thinks of their employees as members of their own families and not just cogs in a machine as is often the case with big corporate entities.
The last thing most small business owners think of before they go to sleep and the first thing that pops into their mind upon wakeing up is being able to issue those paychecks. A business owner knows that their employees are moms and dads depending on that income to feed and shelter their own families. But the business owner is also in the position of being the mom or the dad. The “kids” want more and more; but if the “parents” give it to them, there won’t be anything left for next week.
