Patrons of a Burger King in Lincoln, Nebraska were greeted with a message on the marquee that read: "We all quit. Sorry for the inconvenience."
Growing frustrated with being overworked, understaffed, and having to work in unfair and unsafe conditions, all the employees, including the general manager, of the Burger King location, quit.
Former general manager Rachel Flores told KLKN in Lincoln that employees were forced to work in a kitchen with no air conditioning, where it would sometimes reach up to 90 degrees in doors. And management was in no rush to repair their broken equipment.
In fact, Flores had to be hospitalized for dehydration, of which her boss told her she was acting like a "baby."
So when she put in her two weeks notice, other employees followed and decided to quit, and wrote the message on the marquee, according to Flores, "to say, you know sorry there’s really not going to be anyone here. Just kind of a laugh to upper management."
Burger King has not released a statement on the matter, though upper management was reportedly "not happy," and changed the sign immediately. They also shifted around employees from other locations to make sure the restaurant stayed operational.
