A couple of the most-hated football teams in Louisiana will visit the state this weekend -- we start with the Alabama Crimson Tide tomorrow night at LSU.
The LSU Fighting Tigers want to avoid two conference losses on their record, but so, too, does 'Bama.
Although both teams have a lot to play for, WWL's Mike Detillier says the winner really isn't poised to go on a run.
"Both teams are flawed," Detillier told WWL's Tommy Tucker.
He says neither side has much of a ground game, and he says Alabama has trouble defending the pass.
"Alabama's secondary is probably the worst I've seen it in the past 15 years," he said.
Gone are key backfield defenders like Kool-Aid McInstry, now with the Saints. Detillier said that could benefit LSU -- but he thinks it will be a close game that won't be decided 'til the fourth quarter.
Then there's the hated Atlanta Falcons coming to the Superdome on Sunday.
The Saints are reeling but fans hope interim head coach Dan Rizzi can give them spark needed to get their first win since September!
Detillier says the Falcons have a potent rushing attack.
"They run the ball well. That's their strength," he said.
But the if the Saints offense can find its groove, there could be some opportunities.
"(The Falcons are) not great on defense. They don't have a great pass rush."
But he says when it comes to Saints-Falcons, there's always something crazy, like how Atlanta didn't get a single offensive touchdown last game... but still won!
"A muffed punt and a pick-six got'em touchdowns!"
Detillier thinks it will be close, but doesn't think the Black & Gold comes out on top.
LSU vs. Alabama kicks off at 6:30 tomorrow night and you can listen to coverage starting at 2 p.m. tomorrow afternoon here on WWL. Our Saints coverage starts Sunday morning at 8 o'clock, leading up to a noon kickoff on Saints Radio WWL!
