Arkansas-LSU expected to happen as scheduled despite Razobacks' COVID-19 cases

Sam Pittman says Arkansas has an 'adequate' number of players available

Both LSU and Arkansas are expecting their Saturday morning matchup to take place as scheduled despite recent positive COVID-19 tests within the Razorbacks’ program.

The SEC requires teams to have at least 53 scholarship players available on gameday and Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said, on Wednesday’s SEC Coaches Teleconference, that his team currently has an “adequate number of people to play.”

“We’ve had some positives this week that certainly will affect our football team,” he said. “But per numbers mandated by the SEC, we’re still within that number ratio. So we’re looking forward to playing.”

Pittman himself returned to the team this week after quarantining following his own positive COVID-19 test earlier this month.

“Me, personally, I’m fine,” he said Wednesday. “I feel good. Glad to be back at work.”

The 11 a.m. matchup will be the first game LSU’s played in almost three weeks as COVID-19 cases and quarantining due to contact tracing left LSU without enough players to host Alabama this past Saturday.
