Going into preseason camp, the offensive line was the biggest question mark so it’s not a surprise to see that a starting five has yet to be established on the o-line a week and a half before the season opener at Clemson.

Kelly said on Tuesday three of the five starting spots are nailed down.
Former St. Augustine standout Tyree Adams will start at left tackle.

“He had the talent. He had the right traits coming in. He did a really good job of developing and being consistent, which has allowed him to step in and be our starting left tackle,” said Kelly.

Virginia Tech transfer Braelin Moore will start at center and Northwestern transfer Josh Thompson will start at right guard.

Kelly said the battle at left guard continues between Paul Mubenga and Coen Echols and right tackle between freshman Carrius Curne and Weston Davis.

Curne was working at left tackle for most of camp, but a decision was made recently to give Curne a chance to battle for starting right tackle.

“We moved Carrius over there to compete with Weston to see who is our best, and maybe its both of them,” Kelly said.

Kelly said there’s a chance they will rotate players during the game along the offensive line.

"I don't think you're just going to see five guys trotting out there every single play. I think you're going to see some other guys definitely getting in the game as well,” Kelly said.

It appears last year’s starting center, DJ Chester, is the odd man out.

Kelly said Chester is getting work at center, guard and right tackle.

Despite the personnel uncertainty, Kelly maintains the strong belief he has a good offensive line on his hands.
