With their 38-35 loss to Houston in the Texas Bowl behind them, LSU turns its eyes toward landing recruits and getting ready for spring practice.
Lane Kiffin's top job now that he's fully at the helm of the Fighting Tigers football program? Signing players, whether they are prep stars about to graduate high school, or players at other colleges looking to make a change.
"Obviously, he's going to be very active in the transfer portal," said WWL.com LSU columnist Jeff Palermo. "We heard him, during his opening press conference, talking about how he can't wait to start calling players once they get into the transfer portal."
LSU will be losing some veteran players to the portal, so Kiffin will have plenty of needs to address.
"There are obviously key areas on this roster that he's going to have to go out and try to get some really good players out of the transfer portal," Jeff said. "Offensive line, LSU's already had three players announce they're going into the transfer portal, in D.J. Chester, Carius Curne, Coen Echols, so you're going to have to rebuild that offensive line. That's going to take a lot of work."
Coaches can start working the transfer portal Friday, January 2. National signing day for prep stars comes February 4.
