Does the mob have an interest in rigging SEC football games?

One former SEC quarterback is claiming that not only are they interested… he was told they do it regularly.

Mo Hasan suited up as signal-caller for the Vanderbilt Commodores in 2018 and 2019, and he said on a recent podcast that he was offered $300,000 by a mobster to fix Vandy football games.

Hasan said that the mob member claimed, “Almost every game in the SEC is rigged.”

“He said, ‘We regularly talk to guys at your position about fixing games,'” Hasan said in a clip of the episode posted on X. “He named guys in the SEC, who I don’t want to say their names because they’re in the NFL right now … but University of Alabama, I’ll tell you that.”

Hasan said the conversation with the mobster took place at Jason Aldean’s Kitchen and Rooftop Bar in Nashville. However, there is one weak point in Hasan’s story: He was a backup for the Commodores, a fact brought up by one skeptical ESPN analyst.

“It’s hard to rig games from the bench, so I’ve been told,” former Alabama starting quarterback Greg McElroy said Friday on his own podcast McElroy & Cubelic In The Morning.
