One of the SEC’s biggest rivalries is getting an afternoon kickoff this season.

The 10th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide and 15th-ranked LSU Tigers will kick off shortly after 2:30 P.M. on November 7th in Tiger Stadium.
It’s the first time these teams will meet in daylight since LSU’s 46-41 victory over Alabama during its magical 2019 national championship season.
The last daytime meeting between the two in Tiger Stadium came in 2010, when LSU edged the Tide 24-21.
So why an afternoon kickoff for such a marquee matchup?
November 7th is shaping up to be one of the biggest days of the college football season, with several games carrying major College Football Playoff implications.
For those who believe the playoff should remain at 12 teams rather than expand to 24, this is the kind of Saturday they point to as evidence that the current format works.
You could call it elimination day.
The action starts at 11 a.m. Central as Texas visits Missouri. Both teams have two losses, and the loser could see its playoff hopes take a major hit.
Also at 11, BYU travels to Utah for the Holy War. Both teams are ranked in the top 10, making this a critical matchup, especially for the Cougars, who are coming off a heartbreaking double-overtime loss to UCF.
Later that night, Kentucky visits Tennessee. The Volunteers already have two losses and could be in serious playoff trouble with another defeat.
Notre Dame hosts undefeated Miami in South Bend. Another loss for the Fighting Irish could leave them fighting for a playoff spot.
And in the SEC’s primetime showdown, Georgia visits Ole Miss. The Rebels have already suffered two road losses and have little room for error if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.
So enjoy this weekend without LSU or the Saints on the schedule. Take care of those projects around the house, knock out a few honey-do lists, and get ready.
Because November 7th could deliver an all-day marathon of college football, with playoff hopes on the line from morning until night.
