LSU football begins the season ranked fifth in both the coaches and AP Top 25 preseason polls. It doesn’t mean a lot now, but what it does show is that the Tigers head into the season as one of the top teams in the country.
And they are a serious contender to make the four-team college football playoff.
Defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory says they are thinking big.
“I feel like it’s us against the world right now, in my head, I feel like we are going to win it,” said Guillory.
Guillory says in the short term they are trying to win the day. And he says it’s difficult when they face LSU’s offensive line every day in practice.
“The difference between this year and last year is that we are playing as one full unit,” said offensive guard Garrett Dellinger. “It’s not five individual people, we are all communicating with each other, there’s no more I don’t trust my guy next to me, and I think that’s big difference between this year and last year.”
Lack of continuity heading into the 2022 season hurt the Tigers in the season opener against Florida State and it resulted in a loss. The fact the starting five is nearly solidified should bode well for the season opener against the 8th ranked Seminoles.
