LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier continued to say all the right things at SEC Media Days in Dallas on Monday. Nussmeier has big shoes to fill as he replaces a Heisman trophy winning QB.

We’ve seen Nussmeier play here and there during his three seasons at LSU. He’s built a reputation as a gun slinger, someone who takes chances with the football.

But head coach Brian Kelly says with it being Nussmeier’s offense now, he expects the son of a former NFL quarterback will smoothly lead the Tigers down the field.

“He’s been amazing and amazing in the sense of watching a player go from the No. 2 quarterback to the No. 1 quarterback,” Kelly said at Media Days. “I’ll give you this analogy: When you’re the No. 2, it’s not your car, so you’re a little reckless with it.
