The 2023 LSU offense was must-see as they had the ability to score from anywhere on the field with a Heisman winning trophy quarterback and two first round draft picks at wide receiver.

The Tigers 2024 offense hopes to be among the best in the country again this year but do it in a different way.

Kelly provided this preview of what the offense will look like.

“Run the ball, take some shots, get the ball out quickly to our playmakers and move on to the next play,” Kelly said.

And when it’s a short yardage situation.

“When it’s those tough times we are going to be able to rely on that offensive line to convert for us.” Kelly said.

Receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Junior were first round picks last year and this year the Tigers could have two first round picks on offensive line, Will Allen and Emery Jones.

At running back, look for LSU to start sixth year senior Josh Williams against USC. Sophomore Kaleb Jackson is the second-string back, but should get about ten touches a game. John Emery Jr will get anywhere between five to seven touches. Both Jackson and Emery have big play potential.

Kyren Lacy, Chris Hilton and CJ Daniels are the top three receivers. But Aaron Anderson, Zavion Thomas and Shelton Sampson Jr will also see opportunities.

The tight end position could be the “X” factor for this offense. If Mason Taylor stays healthy, he has a chance to be an All-SEC tight end and a potential first round pick.

Taylor’s back-ups have been impressive in preseason camp, Trey’Dez Green and Ka’Morreun Pimpton.

“Pimpton has really taken that next step,” Kelly said. “He’s sticking his nose in there, aggressively, run blocking, catching the ball, I see Trey’Dez making progress as well, so who wouldn’t be excited about those two guys, unique individuals about what they could do in the passing game and they really are coming along in the run game.”

Expect to see more two tight end sets and Taylor, Pimpton and Green on the field at the same time is also a possibility.
