As LSU kicks off its fall practice schedule there's been some early shuffling of the coaching staff.
Newly hired defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey, who was hired away from South Carolina this offseason, will be stepping away from the program due to a "personal health matter," which was announced officially by Brian Kelly on Wednesday.
"Our prayers are with Coach Lindsey and his family, and we ask that their privacy be respected," read a statement. "We look forward to his return to the program.”
In Lindsey's stead special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach John Jancek will take over the defensive line. Assistant Bob Diaco will take over Jancek's role. Diaco had been serving as a senior defensive analyst after joining the staff this offseason.
LSU heads toward a 2023 season with high expectations, with the Tigers scheduled to kick off the season with a showdown against Florida State at Camping World Stadium on Sept. 3.
