Drew Brees didn’t go to LSU.

But after a stellar, likely Hall of Fame career as the Super Bowl winning quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, the Black and Gold GOAT is inextricably tied to a lot of Louisiana touchstones.

So, despite Brees being a Purdue Boilermaker through and through, he’s been known to have an affinity for the Pelican State’s favorite Tigers.

And when the two universities can share something positive, that’s the best of both worlds.

Just such a shared milestone could happen this Saturday when LSU renews a rivalry that has become storied since the turn of the century.

Barstool Sports contributor Cruz Oxenreider tweeted Tuesday the tidbit that the last starting college quarterback to take down a Nick Saban-coached team two years in a row was Brees during his tenure at Purdue in 1998 and 1999.

This little sports trivia nugget is relevant as Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide plays host to LSU this weekend. The Tigers, guided by quarterback Jayden Daniels, knocked off ‘Bama last season.

With Daniels still at the helm, he could notch his name next to a bona fide NFL legend in the history books.

Ever a student of the game, even in retirement, this football fact didn’t slip past Brees, who took note and retweeted it, adding two simple words of his own: “Geaux Tigers.”

Can someone get #9 a ticket to Tuscaloosa?
