For a father that has molded his son to be a baseball player at the collegiate level, what can be better than watching your son win a national championship?

How about two years later, having the opportunity to watch two sons play for a national championship!

West Monroe’s Bill Pearson gets that chance this Father’s Day weekend as he’s the proud papa of Josh and John Pearson.

Josh Pearson was on the 2023 LSU national championship team and John joined his older brother this year as a freshman.

“They fought like cats and dogs forever, now it’s like they are best friends, they are so close, and John’s really looked up to Josh and has learned a lot from Josh,” Pearson said.

Josh Pearson is having an outstanding senior season, hitting .297 with seven home runs and 32 RBIs. Despite being 5-10, 190 pounds, Josh Pearson has 27 career home runs at LSU.

“His bat is so fast, it’s amazing, I can’t believe a dude this small can hit a ball that far, he’s been that like his whole life, he’s been so fast,” Pearson said.

Bill Pearson, a retired firefighter, helped teach his kids how to hit and now operates the Pearson Baseball Academy in their hometown of West Monroe.

Josh and John’s oldest brother, Jacob Pearson, was drafted in the 3rd of the 2017 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels. He retired from professional baseball after the 2023 season, making it as far as Double-A.

“To see all my kids reach their dreams it’s really special, it’s kind of surreal,” Pearson said.

Josh is known for delivering in the clutch moments and is a fan favorite. He received a standing ovation before his final at-bat at Alex Box Stadium on Sunday and received another standing ovation after he struck out.

John Pearson could be called on to pinch-hit in the CWS against a tough left-handed pitcher. He has five hits in 19 at-bats this season and two of hits have left the ballpark.

The Pearson family is taking a break from their family business to watch Josh and John compete in the College World Series.

They are staying at a campground near Charles Schwab Field and enjoying time with Josh and John’s other siblings. Bill and Anna Pearson have five children. They will also be hanging out with other family members of the LSU baseball team, including the Jake Brown family.

Bill Pearson plans to be there through June 23rd, which is the last day of the College World Series.

“If they win it again this year, if I’m twice as happy with having two there, I might blow up,” Pearson said.

Happy Father’s Day Bill Pearson.
