3 things from Saints-Packers: A demolition we never saw coming

JACKSONVILLE — It's hard to digest exactly what happened in Jacksonville this weekend, mainly because it seemed so normal for the Saints.

They didn't play like a team missing its star wide receiver, desperately thin at cornerback, and starting a new quarterback era while displaced from their home. It was the Packers who looked like they'd gotten all the bad breaks.

Or maybe the Saints should relocate to Florida full-time? In their last two trips to the Sunshine State, they've won twice. Last year it was 38-3 in a demolition of Tom Brady and the Bucs. This year it was 38-3 in a demolition of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.

With that in mind, here are the top 3 takeaways.

JAMEIS' DECISIONS

Jameis Winston wasn't joking. He knows he needs to be better at decision-making for this Saints team to get where it wants to be. He did that in Week 1 with an efficiency rate that's pretty remarkable on its own.

Winston threw 5 touchdown passes with just 148 yards. That's the lowest number in NFL history for a player with five touchdown tosses. Pretty solid. He even made the right call to tuck it and run a handful of times early in the game, rolling up 36 yards on three scrambles.

Jameis sure made the Saints look smart for betting on him. And if he can keep it up, things could get even more interesting.

KWON IS BACK

It was reasonable to wonder just how effective Kwon Alexander could realistically be just 9 months removed from a torn Achilles. The question is lingering no more.

Alexander made his presence felt early and often, including two stops on the opening possession that forced a Packers 4th down. He makes for yet another formidable piece in an impressive Saints defense. Are the Saints as good as the Packers made them look this week? Only time will tell.

JUWAN JOHNSON IS A WEAPON

Anyone who watched the Saints in training camp could've told you what became clear on Sunday: Juwan Johnson is going to be a pain to handle.

The tight end converted from WR this offseason and immediately made hay with that opportunity. Johnson caught just three passes for 21 total yards, but two of them went for touchdowns ... and he nearly had a third if not for a pass left behind him in the endzone. Anyone who took the swing in the later rounds of their fantasy drafts (yea, that'd be me) will be making sure to let people know they can see the future.

But will that future hold more yardage? The Saints didn't need it in Week 1, but they could down the road.
