Unanswered questions remain for Alvin Kamara and the New Orleans Saints heading into the 2026 NFL season, but the longtime NFL running back isn't allowing that to put a damper on his time away.

The Saints RB made an appearance over the weekend during a Savannah Bananas game, coming on as a pinch runner in front of a massive crowd at Tennessee's Neyland Stadium. Kamara played his final two collegiate seasons for the Vols before being drafted in the third round by the Saints in 2017.

Kamara, ever the showman, did his job getting the crowd energized as he came out to pinch run. After playing to the crowd on his way to first base, he mimed a hamstring injury before breaking into dance. If you're unfamiliar with Banana Ball, the in-game dance breaks are a major part of the experience. Kamara came around to score not long after on a Danny Oberst home run.

This isn't the first time the Saints have had a run-in with baseball. The Savannah Bananas took over the Caesars Superdome earlier this offseason for two games, which featured appearances by retired Saints QB Drew Brees as well as current starting QB Tyler Shough.

Kamara's appearance comes just days prior to the Saints kicking off the first of their three sets of optional organized team activities. Each session will consist of three days of practices, one of which is open to the media. Kamara has traditionally not been in attendance for the optional workouts, though his contract does include language that incentivizes his appearance. Whether there or not, it's a certainty Kamara's name be brought up, with the team -- most notably Saints GM and head coach Mickey Loomis -- remaining noncommittal as to the veteran RB's role on the roster.

“We’re just trying to see how he’s going to fit in our roster," Saints GM Mickey Loomis said recently, "and obviously there’s a resource management element to it, and we’ll get to that over the next week or two.”

Loomis noted that the start of OTAs provided something of a deadline for both sides, but it wasn't hard and fast. As of early this month the Saints had yet to present Kamara any type of reworked deal that would include a pay cut, something they have done previously for veterans in his situation. The team made a splash this offseason when they signed free agent RB Travis Etienne to a 4-year, $48 million contract.
