Saying goodbye to Drew Brees leaves a huge void for the Saints. Their field general is moving into the broadcast booth after a 20 year playing career. That means for the first time in 15 seasons, there will be a new starter under center in New Orleans in 2021. Will the team be able to main their high standard of performance without the future first-ballot Hall-of-Famer?

I think he's I think he's a Hall-of-Fame coach,” football legend and former Saint Archie Manning told WWL’s Sports Talk.
“I don't know what their plans are definite at the quarterback position. That's the big question. I know Sean's a big fan of Taysom Hill. Taysom did get some experience last year. I thought he did very well. But, that was that was a chance for Sean and that coaching staff to evaluate where he is as a starter. I think they know where he is in the role he's played here in the last few years, which is outstanding. I love what they do with Taysom Hill.”
“They got a chance to see James Winston just a little bit on the field, but a lot in practice. Didn't have an offseason, training camp. I think a lot of people have different opinions about that. But, it's really not but one opinion that counts. And that's Sean Payton and what they plan to do with the quarterback position.”
Other than the job opening at QB, Manning sees a roster constructed of too many good players for New Orleans to have a dramatic drop off and believes they’ll be right back in the hunt for a Lombardi in 2021.
“Outstanding offensive line”, Archie Manning led off with about the rest of the roster. “Alvin Kamara is one of the best players in the National Football League, their receivers this year, you know, there were some injuries in-and-out, so forth. They’ll get them back healthy.”
“And, that's a good defense. That's a very good defensive football team that's able to get in the quarterback’s face and you’ve got an all-pro cover guy out there. It's a lot of good players.”
“I know Tampa Bay won the Super Bowl and they'll be good again next year. But, it's no reason to believe that the Saints won't be right there and be a contender next year.”
