“It was a tale of three quarters and one quarter.”
That's how Bobby Hebert opened his post game rant after the New Orleans Saints mounted a furious fourth quarter comeback to beat the Atlanta Falcons 27-26.
Atlanta had dominated much of the game and opened up their lead to 16 points just a few minutes into the fourth quarter. But Atlanta was done rising up at that point.
“All of a sudden, we decided to play,” Hebert said. “What a wake-up call.”
The Saints rattled off three scoring drives while holding the Falcons to a pair of punts, and New Orleans improbably had a one point lead. The Saints held on, blocking the Falcons field goal attempt as time expired.
“If we play like this the majority of the season, we'll be lucky to be 7-10,” Hebert said. “[With] the parity in the NFL, you're not good enough to get off to a slow start like that and expect to win.”
“This is what you'd describe as an ugly win,” Hebert went on. “But you can have a great win and an ugly win, and they all count the same.”
