Tom Brady is currently the NFL record-holder for career passing touchdowns with 561. No. 2 on that list is Drew Brees with 560.
The two have gone back and forth with that record this season and likely will on Sunday when their teams meet at 7:20 p.m. at Raymond James Stadium.
Brees said that it’s “pretty cool” that the NFL’s all-time leading touchdown passers will play each other but said that regaining the record was not his goal.
“I know speaking for myself, I'm just laser focused on the job that is right in front of me, and the opportunity that we have this week,” Brees said. “And winning the football game is the most important thing. And however we can get that done."
Brees’s teammates said they aren’t concerned about helping him get they record back either.
“That's not what we're going to try to accomplish,” Saints tackle Terron Armstead. “(The) ultimate goal is to win the game. And you can ask Drew (Brees) the same thing. We run up five rushing touchdowns, we all will be extremely excited.”
