If you're looking for positive New Orleans Saints vibes heading into Week 1 of the 2025, don't look at the betting lines or expert predictions.
Fair or not, the Saints are being viewed as arguably the worst team in the NFL.
"They’re not under the radar, they’re not even … they don’t even register. To show you right now and I look at like, the oddsmakers in Las Vegas, OK, right now, winning the NFC South and the Super Bowl. It’d be like a modern-day miracle," the Cajun Cannon Hebert said, "Like, we’d have to have the second coming of Jesus, almost for them to win the Super Bowl."

According to Fanduel, the Saints enter the season with +40000 odds to win the Super Bowl. That's well behind the next team on the list (Jets +25000). The Ravens and Eagles are currently tied atop that list at +700. The Saints due have better odds than multiple teams to win their division.
It's the type of information one might call bulletin board material.
"That’s why we’ve got to beat the Cardinals to help us get some confidence," help us to go forward from them and Spencer Rattler, hey, he can just say hey, no one is expecting nothing from us. He can play foot loose and fancy free, play with a lot of confidence.”
A lot comes down to the quarterback. The Saints have chosen to go with Spencer Rattler over rookie Tyler Shough, though either selection probably wouldn't have swayed the masses. The Saints enter Week 1 as a 6.5-point home underdog against the Cardinals.
So how can the Saints buck those odds? Hebert says it has to start on defense.
"I think if our defense does not play solid, we have no chance. ... if we’re in a shootout, I’d be shocked if we win one game," Hebert said. "You know how we’d see with Drew Brees sometimes and Drew Brees, we’d have to play complementary football and if we give up 38 then we’ve got to score 39 and all that. Well, I say no, we’ve got to score at least 20. If our defense is holding anybody to 19 or less, I’d even say 20, then we should score 23."
