The rift between Michael Thomas and the New Orleans Saints continues to escalate.
Following a Nola.com report on Sunday that Thomas ignored multiple calls from the Saints for three months this offseason, the All-Pro receiver took a shot at the team with a Monday morning tweet:
“They tried to damage your reputation. You saved theirs by not telling your side of the story,” he wrote.
Thomas and the Saints have been at odds this offseason, with the Saints displeased that Thomas waited until June to get surgery on his ankle when the Saints’ medical staff recommended he get it immediately following the end of the season.
The 28-year-old reportedly got a second opinion and tried to rehab the ankle, which did not work out.

But in the time that he was delaying the surgery, the Saints – including head coach Sean Payton – attempted to reach out to Thomas to check on his status and he ignored their calls.
The Nola.com report comes a week after Payton and GM Mickey Loomis voiced their displeasure and frustration that Thomas did not get the surgery sooner.
The star wide receiver now seems to be suggesting that the recent report is an attempt to damage his reputation and that there is more to the story from his side, which he is choosing to keep private.
Thomas has not yet spoken publicly with reporters since the end of last season and is currently on the PUP list at Saints training camp.
While Thomas sounds as if he will not tell his side — at least not yet — he will certainly be asked about it whenever he does finally meet with media.
It is certainly a situation that does not appear to be going away any time soon.
