As the Saints enter a new era of football in New Orleans, there will be a fresh voice calling the action for the Who Dat Nation to hear.

WWL Radio, Audacy New Orleans, the Saints Radio Network and the team have announced veteran New Orleans sports journalist Mike Hoss will join the Saints all-time leading rusher Deuce McAllister in the broadcast booth on game day.

"It is one of those bucket lists dream jobs one has when you first get into broadcasting, but very few get to live out that dream.  I am enormously grateful and excited,” Hoss said about taking over as the play-by-play announcer.

McAllister says he looks forward to providing color analysis with Hoss.

"He knows this team.  He knows the game and genuinely loves the fans.  Mike’s a great choice.”

Hoss shares the excitement about working with McAllister.

“There are only a few people out there who represent New Orleans and the Saints with such class, humility, and just flat-out likeability as Deuce McAllister." Hoss explained. "I think we will have a lot of fun along the way, and I am confident those listening will feel that as well."

Hoss takes over for Zach Strief after the Super Bowl champion Saints offensive lineman returned to the team as an assistant coach.

Hoss began covering the Saints for WWL TV in 1989 as a sports reporter under sports director, and then Saints play-by-play announcer, Jim Henderson.

"Well, there’s big shoes to fill and then big shoes," Hoss noted. "Zach has a size 16 shoe and played the game for 12 years.  Jim Henderson held the job for 30 years, so perhaps we should not even begin this conversation.  They are in a separate category."

“Mike checks all the boxes," Kevin Cassidy, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Audacy New Orleans added, "His extensive experience covering the team both on and off the field has allowed him to paint a front-row picture for fans over the course of his career, and we trust his knowledge will enhance our coverage on game days.”

He will bring fans every call as the Saints begin the post-Brees era, after 15 seasons with Drew Brees leading the team at quarterback.  The QB's retirement means retooling the offense and great anticipation for a new chapter in Saints football.

“This is the thrill of a lifetime,” said Hoss.

WWL Brand Manager Diane Newman said, “Mike Hoss is a household name, a fan favorite and a digital content pro.  We’re thrilled about the talent, institutional knowledge and innovation he brings to our WWL team."

Hoss calls his first game on August 14th when the Saints travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens and open the 2021 preseason.
