The New Orleans Saints have already been fined $750,000 and a seventh-round draft pick by the NFL for violating the league's COVID-19 rules. Now the league is mulling further sanctions, according to The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.
The latest investigation comes from running back Alvin Kamara's positive COVID-19 test before the final week of the season. The positive test resulted in the entire running backs corps being disqualified for the game against the Carolina Panthers January 3.
The NFL already fined the Saints $250,000 for Coach Sean Payton not wearing a mask during the Week 2 game versus the Las Vegas Raiders.
The league then fined the Saints $500,000 and a seventh-round draft pick when video of players celebrating maskless in the locker room after their 38-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came to the NFL's attention.
According to reports, the league could discipline the Saints for Kamara's positive if a non-Saints employee was in the team's facility. Kamara reportedly tested positive after interacting with someone who is not employed by the Saints who later tested positive.
