Lions interview Saints assistant Dan Campbell for head coaching job, report says

Saints tight ends coach Dan Campbell interviewed for the Detroit Lions’ vacant head coaching position Monday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Campbell has spent the past five seasons serving as the Saints tight ends coach. He’d previously served as the Miami Dolphins interim head coach in 2015. He was a member of the Miami staff for the previous four seasons.

Prior to coaching Campbell played 11 seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants (1999-2002), Dallas Cowboys (2003-05), Detroit Lions (2006-08) and Saints (2009).

Campbell isn’t the only Saints assistant drawing interest from franchises for head coaching vacancies. The New York Jets requested an interview with defensive backs coach Aaron Glenn.
