The New Orleans Saints are using their franchise tag on safety Marcus Williams, the team announced Tuesday.
The move was reported earlier from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
The franchise tag for s safety is reportedly about $10.5 million.
Williams started 14 games for the Saints this past season and collected three interceptions, seven pass break ups and 59 total tackles.
The former Saints second-round draft pick has picked off 13 passes since his rookie season in 2017.
Williams is one of several key Saints players set to become free agents along with defensive end Trey Hendrickson, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and linebacker Alex Anzalone and backup quarterback Jameis Winston among others.
