The New Orleans Saints have until 3 p.m. Tuesday to cut down from a 90- to 85-man roster, but a trio of moves came through a day after the team’s preseason opener.

Running back Stevie Scott, defensive end Noah Spence and cornerback Prince Amukamara were cut from the roster, according to reports from Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.football and ESPN's Mike Triplett.

The Saints could feasibly sign players to fill those spots and cut others ahead of Tuesday, if they so choose, but cuts down to the second roster limit threshold will have to be made this week. The next deadline to cut down to 80 players is the following Tuesday.

Without a fourth preseason game this year, the final cutdown to the 53-man roster heading into the regular season will come the following week on Aug. 31, a week earlier than in past seasons.

Scott, a UDFA running back out of Indiana, didn’t play a snap in the preseason opener against the Ravens. Spence, in his 6th season out of Eastern Kentucky, logged 27 snaps on defense and 9 on special teams, logging one tackle. Amukamara, in his 10th NFL season, was among the leaders in snaps against the Ravens, logging 43 on defense and four on special teams while rolling up four tackles. The former Giants and Bears corner was signed earlier in camp to compete for the outside cornerback spot, which coach Sean Payton has repeatedly called a "must" position to add to. Ken Crawley has gotten the first crack at the outside spot across from Marshon Lattimore, with the next in line appearing to be rookie Paulson Adebo.

Scott, Spence and Amukamara were among the 15 players reportedly absent from Sunday's practice. Payton said the team has already decided on its cuts and an announcement is forthcoming.

The Saints are next in action on Monday, Aug. 23 when they host No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
